Rig counts indicate the number of drilling rigs actively exploring and developing natural gas resources, while DUCs (drilled but uncompleted wells) represent wells that have been drilled but not yet brought online. Over the last six months gas-directed rig counts have remained around 125 rigs as producers moderate activity, while the inventory of DUCs has gradually declined. Going forward, rig activity is expected to stabilize and DUC counts to continue shrinking as completions accelerate.
